Rock & Roll and Language (was: 70s crap)

There is rock & roll in the romance languages....starting with le Johnny
Halliday!  One of the best franco bands, the 70's Les Variations, was
actually mostly Moroccan.....John Cale produced Marie & Les garçons,
which has to count for something....and who can forget Plastique Betrand
.....however hard we try ....ça plane pour moi indeed.  And as for
Spanish...what about "La Bamba"?
But my favorite non-anglo bands are japanese, even though most of them
sing most of the time in English.....Shonen Knife, Pizzicato 5, the
5678's, Flamenco a Go-Go, Boredoms.....
