Tribute/Parody is a subtle distinction, think I.

No doubt.  However, when I use the term "parody" I tend to refer to an 
effort to make fun of the original and/or source.  Of course, one can 
indeed create a "parody" that renders tribute to the subject, while at the 
same poking fun at it.

for whatever it's worth, when I originally read DiFilipo's piece, I didn't 
find it poking fun at TRP's style or works.  then again, I may have missed 
it.
