Or how about a "Pynchon for Beginners"?  What the hell, the publishers of
those "_______ for Beginners" books saw fit to do a "Hemingway for
Beginners", so why not a Pynchon?

By the way, most of those "_____ for Beginners" books are pretty damned
entertaining.  I just picked up "Lacan for Beginners", but unfortunately
it's rather too superficial to be of much aid in my quest to understand
the guy.

Though it did say that he's nearly impossible to understand by studying on
one's own.  My ego found that somewhat reassuring.
