First, a correction. Leibach, with all its 10+ years of darkly ambivalent
play with Nazi insignia and other things punkish, is neither Polish not
Croatian: came out of that once-upon-a-time Yugoslavia, and has its home in
Ljubljana, Slovenia.
The term Leibach was the German/Nazi name for the capital of Slovenia, in
fact. The band, who first came to the attention of the international public
by a series of concerts they held in London, England in the late '80s, is
for some reason very popular in Germany, where it usually appears in tandem
with who else but Slavoj Zizek. Laibach was last seen doing a gig this May
at the opening of some European Community cult-fest in Ljubljana, and, as
usual, embarrassing the hell out of Slovenia's top political echelon [who
should have known better] as well as their typically clueless EU guests. A
recent issue of Arkzin, Croatia's best art-mag, which has its own little
mirror site in the States, carrries an article on this -- unfortunately,
without an English-language version attached [the Arkzin boys can't afford
paying for translations: no Tudjman minions, they].
And then a question: does anyone know the name of those amazing Chinese guys
who sound like a cross between a Buddhist monk choir [deep throated frog
chants] and a slow-hand heavy-metal band? Could that be the Tang Dynasty
boys Mike H. mentions? I've heard them a couple of times on some late-night
CBC music shows but never caught the name: scary for sure but a very
interesting sinister sound nevertheless.

Mike H. adds to the confusion a little:
