(really) moderation of Pynchon-l

I dunno. I don't feel too "right" about it. Okay, so it may not be a
rational, well thought-out reason, but damn, it's how I feel. It's my best
experience with the Internet (and I've been online in a variety of forms
since 1984) that things work best when freedom of expression is allowed to
flourish... and when anarchy is allowed. I can see moderation getting in
the way of some really cool discussions here... and maybe they're not all
100% Pynchon, but in my opinion, most of his books aren't 100% of ANYTHING
you could catalogue and throw into one bucket anyway.

I think some of us, and some of you, are just frustrated with the flames. I
am too. I can remember a time long ago when we got along much more than we
flamed... I think it had something to do with our own sincerity and mutual
respect. Perhaps the number one posting guideline fo Pynchon-L should be:

"Check your ego at the door."

If we all stop attempting to outpost, outthink, outflame, outwhatever each
other... and return to sharing our posts in sincerity and with respect,
perhaps the need for a moderator will return to File 13.

Take care,
JJ
