     How nice it would be to be able to go back to the wide-eyed wonder
with which we all read Pynchon for the first time. To see the astounding
depth of his work with a mind uncluttered by the astounding depth of his
work.
   How wonderful to see the description of that blasted island landscape
without interpreting from previous work.
   Thanx for the reminder...I will read with a simpler eye opened to the
clarity of tone and depth of description.
