Jules sez:
But I am very firmly a union man. My father
defended the organizers of the Laundry Workers Union with his pistol and
fist during the labor wars of the '30s.
------
Labor stuff seems to slightly interest Pynchon. _V._ has the great story
about the Union business agent and the alligator hunting crew. And
Vineland, of course, has some beautiful and touching minor segues into
Wobbly lore and the IATSE (ie, International Alliance of Theatrical and
Stage Employees) Hollywood battles. I think that Gravity's Rainbow also
has some very minor anti-union rhetoric...belive it was the conversation
between Slothrop's mother and Joe Kenedy. Can anyone verify this?
