1. Look at the difference between the island chains in the Pacific
and in the S Atlantic. Lot's of -nesias in the Pacific and the only
island in the S Atlantic tend to be mid-oceanic volcanic seamounts
along the Mid-Atlantic ridge.
2. And since the Pacific cultures spread from the SE Asian littoral,
they had ample time to develop technologies that would get them from
point A to point B.
You expect them to go trans-oceanic from the word go?
(this is what happens when they quit teaching geography in the schools!)
