My primary knowledge of sexlessness and its manifestations in
creativity are about Morrissey, the former lead singer for
the British band "The Smiths", and author of several solo albums
of his own.
My former SO was quite into him, and was also enamored of his
self-declared "asexual" orientation. He believes that by forsaking
sexual behavior altogether, he can focus all of his energy into
making his music. While I do hold a lasting interest in his art,
I wouldn't call myself a "fan", but I do not think anyone can doubt
his creativity.
I believe around the time of Descartes, there was a movement towards
asceticism for the purpose of greater spirituality wasn't there?
/me may be a little lost at the moment...
The Advil runneth out, alas.
