To remash old potatos: sometime ago someone mentioned that Pitt the
Younger could not likely have been known as such when the twins were born,
thus revealing an apparent anachronism. While at a local Borders I was
perusing _Britons: Forging the Nation 1707-1837_ by Linda Colley (1992
Yale Univ. Press) (a potentially useful text for those interested in the
historical minutiae of M&D. Not that anyone here fills that bill.).
Anyhow, Pitt the Younger was PM at 24 in 1783. Given that, it doesn't
seem impossible that he was already well known when the twins were born,
presumably sometime around '76 or '78.
Pitt the Younger died at 47, supposedly of overwork. Yeah I beleive that.
