The future of the list -- nanny time?

It's disturbing that the women should find the list environment so hostile;
as others have noted  before, the Pynchon "boy's club" trend is strong;
given how inclusive Pynchon is in our fiction, perhaps we can be, too. I
think there's room for all sorts of comment on the list, and don't advocate
any sort of elitist "moderation" but at the same time I think that the
whole tone and experience will improve as people put a bit more thought
into their posts and remember that we're people. Sarcasm is the weapon of a
weak mind, as the flame is a reflex of rage. We can point these things out
when they surface, and counter with better examples of what we want the
list to reflect.
