In Bruce Sterling's recent fine story "The Bicycle Repairman"
(reprinted in this year's Dozois collection of Best SF), the
protagonists deliberately modifies hs physiology so as to
eliminate sexual desire, thus freeing himself for pursuit
of his real love, engineering.
