I think that what is good or bad form on the P-List is a matter of
the type of room you think you're in.

1. A Lecture Hall - Papers, Questions & Answers.
It's awfully stuffy and warm in here. ZZZzzzz...

2. A Salon - Generally Bright conversation centered about a
particular topic. When Oscar W gets going and brings up certain
topics, he is tut-tutted and my good manned. If he weren't so witty,
he wouldn't be invited back. Bounders are shown the door.

3. Off-campus Bar - Students, Profs, and Townies. Often a small
fight, but a pitcher of beer on/for the brawler, "Break it up. Now
what were we talkin' about?" and another round of drinks usually
suffices. Knives and guns are rare. Everyone knows that if things
got out of hand, the police would be called in, and that keeps things
from getting out of hand. Most people know the guy in the corner
playing with himself; a few epithets are shouted at him, but others
buy him drinks. He usually comes and goes as he pleases, unmolested.
