Well, your experience is rather like that of a poor but honest technogeek 
who stumbles into a vast bramble of postmodernist literary criticism -- 
something that happens around here from time to time.  Would it be a good 
idea to translate it into mathematic symbols?

Personally I think this sort of thing is good for the nervous system; 
taken with care, it can either broaden one's education or induce a 
healthy intellectual humility.  I leave you with a pleasing aphorism from 
Richard P. Feynman's _Lectures on Pysics_:

     "Do not laugh at notations; invent them, they are powerful."
