And don't forget "Lost in the Funhouse" by John Barth. He drove me up 
the wall with his fucking metafiction. That certainly was NOT a book to 
enjoy which disappointed me even more after having read "The Sot-Weed 
Factor".

dennis--very much enjoyed your'pomo rant,' but i must point out an
important omission from your list of metafiction titles. i mention this
only because it is so damned well-achieved, really a casebook on
metafiction: nabakov's _invitation to a beheading_. it's the kind of
book that turns your socks inside out.
