>21.19 'Cooch Girls' from couche? Or couch? or are they hoochie-coochie
>girls!
In old English slang cooch means, of course, awkward. In old Gloucester
slang, however, it can mean nook, as in'cooch and corner.' But what
could a Cooch Girl be?
>24.17 'Portsmouth Polls' prostitutes?
A poll is a thief. However, it could also mean, in rare usage, a
woman of unsteady character. I understood, though, that this was a 19th
century usage.
