Contrary to Richard Romeo's expectation I omitted to ask if anyone
knew the continuation of Dixon's Jesuit, Corsican and Chinaman joke.
I have my doubts as to whether there was ever any intention that it
should be completed by Dixon, Pynchon or us.

But note Matthew Wiener's mention of a Corsican rebellion under Paoli
(not to mention the other useful details he provides - all I have had
access to so far for details of geography and topography is an AAA map
of Virginia, delaware and Maryland, and equally little by way of
history). I recall several other mentions of Corsica later in the book
and was at a loss to account for them at all. Perhaps we should be on
the lookout for them and see how they tie into the triad. The other
two nations are frequently opposed throughout the book as is Jesuit
analytic hyper-rationalism with the more holistic and open-minded
approach (open to communications phrased other than in scholastic
logic, that is) manifest in Feng Shui.

And though Earthliness forget you,
To the stilled Earth say: I flow.
To the rushing water speak: I am.
