I find it interesting that the discoverer of these stamps, Cati LaPorte,
also maintains a web site (The Living Almanac of Disasters) that
appropriates and catalogs documentary images depicting various calamitous
occurrences and will throw at thy browser disaster-oriented one-liners
sequenced by day of the month throughout various years. Here we are:

Recall Pynchon did this in V, CoL49 too? Did he rip that stuff from today's
headlines I wonder? It seemed so mundane in the middle of V. The most drily
post-modern passage in a book otherwise dominated by polarity it was somehow
unifying: stencilized profanity in the interest of doom.
