Haven't seen anyone mention Pynchon's second call to CNN yet, responding to
Thursday's profile. This is from CNN's "The World Today" on Friday, June 6.
Pynch is getting downright chatty these days!
JOIE CHEN, CNN ANCHOR: We have an editor's footnote to last night's story
about author Thomas Pynchon. He was watching and he called to shoot down
part of Charles Feldman's story.
In the early 1980s a newspaper in a small northern California town started
getting letters from a writer who called herself Wanda Tinasky. Letters
widely believed by literary scholars to have been written by Thomas Pynchon.
They are now collected even in book form. Well, Mr. Pynchon who does not do
on camera interviews, called to say: "I did not write those letters. This
has been a hoax that I've had nothing to do with. I'm sorry it's gone on as
long as it has."
