Dear BV: Someone else wrote the words you attributed to me. I made no
mention of anyone talking to himself on the street. My remarks had to do
with the apparent self-consciousness of both the red-cap guy and the
chrome domer. In fairness, the person who did note that the balding guy
appeared to be talking to himself did not suggest that he was in
consequence more likely to be Pynchon. That observation seemed intended
for descriptive purposes only. Your comments are thus totally without
value. Thank you so much.
