AIDS, idiots, and self-serving liars

I have to respectfully disagree with jester when he says that the
issue of AIDS is too complicated to understand - For crying out loud, there
is enough data out there to gag every elephant in Africa and the biology
and science is actually quite simple - And a lot of very respected
scientists have made the issues very clear
I must disagree with Andrew when he says that this topic is
inappropriate for this list - AIDS is killing people and when self-serving liars
post bs merely to attract attention then they must be have their lies
brought out into the light of day
Jules, as reported by davemarc, has made the argument that AIDS is not
a virus - And he suggests that his "important" article was rejected by
the media because of a conspiracy - Why is it that whenever his articles
are rejected it's because of some effort to silence him? - Has it ever
occurred to him that maybe the articles are not worthy of publication? -
Has it ever occurred to him that perhaps THE NEW YORKER and PLAYBOY
would rather publish articles by people with reasonable credentials? If
there was a conspiracy to supress "the truth about AIDS" than the idiotic
book by Peter Duesberg (touted by Jules) would have gotten no coverage
at all - Instead it has been reviewed everywhere - Unfortunately for
Jules and Duesberg it as also been shown to be a fraud - For example, check
out the review in the NY TIMES (www.nytime.com/books) which concludes:
"Mr. Duesberg's credentials make his
assertions both distracting and disabling of preventive response. Denial has
always been the most devastating social and political dynamic of the AIDS
epidemic -- and his book feeds it abundantly. In sum, this book is
destructive of personal morale, prevention efforts and public understanding
both of H.I.V./AIDS and of biomedical science in general. It has the
potential to wreak serious harm at a crucial point in the AIDS epidemic,
which has been judged by many to be one of the greatest public health
challenges of our time. "
The reviewer, June E. Osborn, is far more qualified to judge the value
Duesberg's work than I am or than Jules is
Fraud is fraud - Period
