What you are doing is setting up an arbitrary standard for ignorance: not
having read your article.

Except that some more affluent individuals get it without having adopted a
self-destructive lifestyle.

???  It's mostly insurance companies, not victims, who are paying for AIDS
treatments.  They are so closely connected to the medical establishment that
I can't see how they'd tolerate a "conspiracy" of the sort you suggest.
