Thank you very much, Don. I hope you won't be mortally offended but I'm
not going to answer this question right now, owing to three salient
factors:

1) I haven't finished the book yet. I have glanced at the ending, so I
think it's a highly significant question, but I just don't know how we
got from Here to There. 

2) I honestly haven't thought much about Mason's relationship with his
father. Anything I say about it now is going to be unformed blather. The
minute I get a line of good, honest overbearing dogmatic patter on the
topic, I'll be sure to spray it all over the list.

3) It's 5:25 on a Friday afternoon, and I'm beginning to be consumed
with thoughts of Guinness Pub Draft Stout and Papa John's pizza.
