But seriously, I believe that I have sussed the truly pivotal
and perhaps too painfully obvious issue here: film & music vs
literature. Film, theater & music control time, books, paintings and
sculpture accrete. Just look at the way most of us read Pynchon in
particular, ie very slowly; sometimes the same sentence over and
over, or even a single character.
