Either your professor is correct or there's gonna be a hell of a lot
work in such a project; certainly more than is justified for a term
paper. Save it for your MA thesis.

I am currently taking a "History of the English Language" class, and
need
to write a term paper. I am thinking of tracing TRP's use of words in
M&D;
in particular his use of older English to produce a peculiarly modern
feel
to his prose. I haven't thought this out completely; well, to be
honest,
not even partially, seeing as I still need to finish the book, but the
thought intrigues me. Any thoughts on the plausibility of such a paper?
My professor seems to think I will dive into it only to find the topic
runs
no deeper then TRP having fun by fucking around with the words to amuse
himself (and us, I suppose).

It is easy in the world to live after the world's opinion;
it is easy in solitude to live after our own;
but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd
keeps with perfect sweetness
the independence of solitude.--Emerson
