What's that book?

Maybe someone will help me to remember the title & author of a book about 
the island of St. Helena that came out a few years ago.  The author is an 
English woman; the book is a curious meditation about many things, 
occasioned by the island and its history, especially as the last abode of 
Napoleon.

Now that I am reading the St. Helena part of Mason & Dixon I'm glad I 
read that book, as I feel I already know what the place looks like and 
feels like.  If I knew the title, at least, I would recommend it highly 
to anyone about to read Mason & Dixon.
