Muted Cowhorns

We used a de-horning tool, not completely unlike a pipe cutter. You do it
when the cows are young heifers and the horns are just horn buds. They bled
profusely until you slathered on a caustic paste that stanched the blood
flow and prevented regrowth by destroying certain cells at the base of the
horns. I don't recall any other details as it's been almost 40 years since
I last did this.
