Plist ethos (was TIMES article)

Blast me for it if you want, but I am less concerned than some folks
here about Pynchon's privacy. He's a big boy and must learn to deal
with the new situation that increased fame and wealth, marriage and
fatherhood have thrust upon him. What IS beginning to call for censorial
(silly word in this context) comment is an increasing p-list
tendency to see itself as a more important part of the Pynchon
enterprise than it really is. After all, there are a few hundred active
p-listers at most. This has to be put in relation to up two hundred
thousand copies of the new book out there to be read. Does it
really matter a whole hell of a lot to the outside world WHAT we say
or do? I definitely think not. So let's just be our natural selves and
stop worrying so much.

Thank you for your indulgence and apologies in advance.
