	Second, I must ask:  In four hundred years, assuming that the
dearth of biographical information on Pynchon persists, will HE seem a
plausible author of GRAVITY'S RAINBOW?  I can imagine future Ogburns who
will mock the notion that this son of old money, a former military man --
and one without a graduate degree! -- should compose such a polymathic
piece of subversion.
