Lit. speed and film speed (and baseball)

Interesting thread. I would just attempt the admittedly lame analogy that
film, like football, soccer, basketball, etc. is a "clock sport." When the
whistle blows, rocket hits, etc., overtime not withstanding, the game is
over.

Books, on the otherhand are like baseball, time independent. The game takes
as long as it takes, likewise innings, and, use to be pitchers on the mound
between pitches, before those umps got so antsy an' all, and had to keep
things moving.

What's the rush?
