I suppose, if one were truly interested in this stuff, you might want to
look into the story of this guy named Prince Madoc, a Welsh prince who
allegedly came to America around 1170 AD. Supposedly he entered by way of
Mobile Bay and sailed up the Mississippi to the area where Louisville, KY
now is. This guy is usually mentioned in the same breath as Arthurian
legends, so I don't know how much validity there is to it.
