No, I'm not referring to that uneven follow-up to Squeeze's Argy-Bargy.
I'm referring to the documentary about Iron Curtain musicals (a very
limited genre, as you might well imagine) currently showing at New York's
Film Forum. Besides being a lot of fun, it's educational, too! I really
learned a lot about the relationship between musicals and propaganda.
Seriously. Highly recommended.
And if any of you "dead media" people out there (you know who you are!) are
wondering whether or not this might be your cup of tea, I say: give it a
try. There are some verrrrrrry Scopitoney moments.
Only thing missing were the bouncing balls. Had to settle for the
gearshift of a moving tractor instead.
