Rare book prices

At the London Antiquarian Book Fair that finished yesterday, I came 
across a blue-covered uncorrected proof copy of Gravity's Rainbow.  
Never seen one before.  Price was a mere $2,500!  

According to the catalogue, the proofs were numbered and restricted in 
circulation.  This one is number 22.
