what is Yoyodyne?

I'm doing a story on NY-based company called Yoyodyne (www.yoyo.com)... the
person who started it told me they named the company after a Pynchon novel and
the cult movie Buckaroo Banzai. i found out that Yoyodyne was the evil company
in Buckaroo Banzai, but i don't know how it relates to Pynchon... was it an
evil company in one of his novels???

I'm on deadline so any help would be appreciated.
