WARNING: THIS JOKE IS BEST READ OUT LOUD IN AN IRISH ACCENT...

An Irishman applies for a job on a London construction site. The
English foreman, who has heard that the Irish are none too bright,
tells him he can have the job if he can explain the difference
between a joist and a girder.

"Oh, 'tis easy," says the Irishman. "Joist wrote _Ulysses_ and
_Finnegans Wake_, and Girder wrote _Faust_..."
