Yes -- and equally, "flowering." I can't find the pages right now, but
several times Oedipa's ongoing revelation is described as flowering.
Combine that with "unfolding," and it's mighty like a rose.

In these gender-sensitive precincts, I don't want to delve too deeply
into the Mysteries of the Other Team's Orgasm, but perhaps someone who
has an innie rather than an outie could confirm my suspicion that the
where-is-this-taking-me mixture of excitement and vulnerability that
Oedipa so often feels is aw(e)fully sexual?

Along the lines of Jessica's half-dreaming in GR, p. 123, just after the
bare-breasted ride out of London:

"The images go, flowering, in and out, some lovely, some just
awful... but she's snuggled in here with her lamb, her Roger..."

TRP is awfully fond of the insights from the edge of orgasm (Slothrop's
vision of Katje's Face That Is No Face, 222) as well as the edge of
sleep.
