Hey, Folks--Now today is a legitimate On This Day, considering that
Jack Kerouac was born on this day in 1922 and Charlie Parker died on
this day in 1955. Think about the numerological implications of 33
years! Why Christ, I'm listening to Jack's piece on Bird right now!

Ah, Spring. I don't know about y'all, but I have very strong mixed
feelings about Spring. Drives me crazy. In Spring, a young man's fancy
turns to thoughts of Passover. (Just a moment, I'm getting to the
Pynchon part.)

At a Seder (the Passover meal) people sing a song called "Dayenu." The
title means something like "It would have been enough." Such as "It
would have been enough if God had lead the Jews out of Egypt," but He
also did this, that, and the other thing, each of which "would have
been enough." Wellll that's how I feel about GR. The poetry would have
been enough. The sex, drugs, movies and jazz. The adventure would have
been enough. Jessica/Roger or Slothrop/Tantivy would have been enough.
You get the idea.

Now, if only...
