That's one way to do it. Or, you read and reread the text, you correlate
the various cross-references, you build up a picture of who is speaking to
you when no one's around, you notice striking parallels between the text
and your life, you notice newspaper headlines refer specifically to you,
you suddenly understand the lyrics to pop songs which before seemed garbled
and pointless but now reveal some hidden meaning about the human condition.
When you read you take breaks at ten minute intervals, go around turning on
all the lights and make sure no intruders have entered. Your reading is
interrupted several times a night by phone calls from "salesmen" or "wrong
number" just checking to make sure you're at home,,,

Rocket Sighting

I was just at the microsoft site to download 'Power Toys,' some free
utilities to customize Windows 95 (useful 'Paranoia' utilities let you
clear the 'Documents' menu, and wipe out other records Win95 makes while
you work on your computer,,,)

http://www.microsoft.com:80/windows/software/powertoy.htm

...and right next to the words 'Power Toys' is a little picture of a
rocket, and I can't help but think that microsoft's rocket looks more like
a syringe. Now I admit I'm a bit slow here. Somebody is going to have to
tell me straight what people really mean, talking about productivity and
'caffiene abuse.' Power Toys, eh? Any assistance would be greatly
appreciated.

Chris
