Is this old news?

Forgive what may be an uninformed query, but I just noticed, while
looking through the Amazon.com site -- which now lists a price and
cover art for M&D, so we can probably presume that its
imminent publication is *not* an April 1 hoax (how's that for
paranoia?) -- that TRP is listed as editor for a collection that
includes his Sloth piece from the Times, _Deadly Sins_ (Quill, 1996).
Six other well-known writers contributed one sin each: Mary Gordon,
John Updike, William Trevor, et al.

I was unsubscribed back in Feb. '96 when this book came out, but it
seems like semi-major news; I don't recall TRP acting as an editor on
any other occasion. Anybody have comments on this? Could the
attribution of editorship be in error?

The Amazon URL for this is

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ats-query/2864-8530777-330164

Incidentally, I have it from a reliable source (one handshake from
TRP's Holt editor) that there will be absolutely no advance copies of
M&D, even to reviewers. Damn.
