These man-made structures don't really help the beach/shore...
And they call 'em *GROINS* over here... ask Steely about the 
Corpse of Engineers and how they keep folks' houses standing on
beaches where they shouldn't be...

Case in point: The North Carolina barrier islands. Someone wants to move
a 130 year old lighthouse a half mile or so back into the island in
ONE PIECE. On rails.

Nother case in point: Lon Guyland, NY.....
