I'm going on a short lecture tour of the eastern US
after Easter break to promote PIPS & IPW (and a few
other projects.) It is very much my intention to see,
especially at NYU Film school, how much interest there
may be in using Pynchon material for MFA film projects.

Luc and I fully intend to make film part of IPW. Don't
know yet if this means a lecture by a Pynchon-
friendly film-maker on problems and possibilities
of making cinema from Pynchon's work, or
academic papers on "aspects of the cinematic" in
Pynchon, or if we will have our own films to show.
I hope, perhaps even expect, all three. We'll give it a
good shot.

Might I suggest that, with Mason & Dixon coming up,
the South Bank Show may very well be planning a 50
minute piece on Pynchon; alternatively BBC radio or
TV might offer something for the 25th anniversary.
If they haven't, than it may be one of the first jobs of
PIPS to encourage people and institutions to consider
the benefits of doing so.

Anyone on the list who would like to investigate
what is planned in the upcoming months, I would
certainly be glad to work with them. There's no reason
why we couldn't do a bit of friendly digging.

Also, while I am in the States, I would be happy
to consult with any list member or group of list
members about what can and will happen at
International Pynchon Week, and what present and
ongoing role the Programme for International
Pynchon Studies might have. I would be happy to
buy the beer, at least the first round, in New York,
Philadelphia, and Washington DC, between 14 April
and 27 April.

Yours,
