And here I thought LAPL stood for Los Angeles Public Library. Sure, let's all
convene. I was starting to feel a little left out there for a while, what
with all the DC and NY merrymaking. But where? Some of us LA list stalwarts
remember getting the whole "list meet" ball rolling a couple of years back in
Manhattan Beach, but we wouldn't want to repeat ourselves. Vineland Avenue in
the Valley, anybody? Genghis Cohen's on Fairfax? Or somewhere in my neck of
the Westside woods up on Piuma Road, site of the return address on the
mysterious sheet of MGM letterhead that bore TRP's putative response to John
Calvin Batchelor's "Pynchon Is Salinger" expose? The possibilities are
limitless. Just don't go looking for any Orpheus Theaters on Melrose. Believe
me, I've tried. Deedle, Mascaro, any ideas?
Best,
David
