Mostly......yes, unfortunately. I hesitate to paint the whole genre with
that brush though, on the hope that there's some really good stuff out
there. SF was a big part of my life for a long time, I could bore you all
to tears with a list of such books that were important to me at some time
(just ask!). Unfortunately nowadays I find it harder and harder to find
any that seem worth the candle. Tim Powers is about the only author that
you could lump into the SF/Fantasy crowd that I regularly will read and
even his stuff is a mixed bag (_The Stress of Her Regard_ and _Anubis
Gate_ are my favorites, some others aren't bad). I'll have to try some
books recently recommended on the list.
