I find Gibson's approach to his characters rather Pynchonian.  Think 
about Molly Millions, the woman with the mirror-shades implanted in her 
face and the razor blades hidden in her fingertips.  And Gibson's prose 
style is rather like Pynchon's more subdued passages.  But I agree, 
Gibson and cyberpunk owe more to Brunner than to Pynchon.
