"I would compare him to Pynchon in                 
his linguistic gusto, though he is lighter in tone. Though he's
written some good novels, its in the short stories where he truly shines.
Two collections that immediately come to mind are 900 Grandmothers and
Ringing Changes(especially the story "Sky"). Check 'em out..."

Lafferty is wonderful, in his way.  He was one of a handful of authors
who were in the circle of "speculative fiction" writers being advanced
by editors like Judth Merrill and the magazine QUARK, co-edited by
Samuel Delany and his then-wife Diane Hacker.

His Native American and Oklahoma roots are often in evidence, but he
has a great way with a line.  Very funny but also very moving at times.

Reminds me of a goyischer Avrom Davidson.
