A work of fiction is Pynchonian if it includes at least 8 of the following
10 characteristics:

a) breezy and competent rendering of the scientific and technical;

b) an elliptical style of narrative;

c) a high narrative-to-dialogue ratio;

d) encyclopedic command of arcana and Websterian diction;

e) connections between high and low culture;

f) paranoia as a possibly rational response to the human condition;

g) a fascination with communication and its breakdowns;

h) mimicry of other literary styles;

i) weird shit;

j) an often understated but persistent sympathy for the unpopular.
