Sentimental Journey

Hi folks,

If you have a bright, sunny day which quietly hazes over you have a sense
of my usual posts to pynchon-l,,, Below is my list from days gone by that
I have put together wondering how I could somehow experience the same joy
again. Forgive me my profound sense of loss, I would love to bring us back
together though we have grown apart and wandered off on separate paths. I
wonder if they remember me, how we used to be, I wonder if they too think
we could be closer.

I would appreciate hearing other folk's lists, too,,,

Here goes.

Green Dump Truck by Tonka

This one was real neat. It had a little lever on the side, when you pulled
it, 'pssshhhh' a hydrolic lift would slowly raise the dump part. I hauled
and dumped lots of dirt with this little green truck. Sadly, I left it out
in the rain, it started to rust, so when you pulled the little lever,
'GA-BOING!!!' it would spring open, flipping the little truck onto its
back. Very sad, indeed.

Balsa Wood Gliders by Guillows

These were lots of fun. I would buy the kind with rubber bands and
propellers. Actually, I never built them according to the directions. I
would buy three gliders, rearrange the parts, and make a big three-engine
bomber, increasing the effective range and performance considerably! My
masterpiece was a five-engine behemoth, a sort of Spruce Goose, that never
really flew very well but was still impressive.

Water Rockets by ???

You fill them with water, pump in some air, pull a little trigger, a
'fwoosh!' off into the sky it would go. One rocket had a little 'Space
Shuttle' attached that was supposed to separate at Brennschlauss, and glide
safely to earth, but usually the little glider hung on 'til it came
crashing down, breaking free when it hit the ground. Not too good for
those shuttle pilots. I think they stopped making this one after the
Challenger disaster.

I'm glad I did fun stuff when I was a kid. I read too much now, been
trying to cut down, it's hard.

Look forward to hearing from ya,

Chris
