Favorite cheap rocket when I was a kid: take 2 cans, say a tunafish and a
soup can. Fill tuna can about half full of water and set on ground away
from house, trees, etc. Make hole in bottom of soup can and force in a
regular-size firecracker (not a ladyfinger and ferchristsake not a cherry
bomb or M80) about half way (must be a tight fit). Set soup can in tuna
can, light firecracker, and stand back! If done properly the results are
impressive.
