I'll second that.  While overall I don't think Heller is quite on the level
of Our Own Tom, I do think that he's underrated in comaparison with a lot
of his contemporaries (and younger "rivals").  I'll add a word for PICTURE
THIS, which is less a novel than an extended essay deconstructing the
history of Western art and philosophy (it's an extended riff on Rembrandt's
"Plato Contemplating the Bust of Homer").
