What's in it for you, Jules?

An open memo to Jules Siegel:
What's your motivation for staying on the newsgroup? I don't ask in any
pejorative sense. But I am tremendously curious. I mean, hey, it ain't
easy being you around here, is it? What makes it worth the trouble?
There are few ways to frame this question without having it sound like I'm
subtly suggesting that you unsubscribe. That's not my purpose. What I'm
trying to do is ask a sincere question about what makes one person endure
the slings and arrows I've seen launched here (do slings launch?). I
realize I'm way out of bounds asking this because it's none of my damn
business.
You have absolutely every right to be here. Just as I have absolutely every
right to be places you couldn't pay me to be. If I were the focus of such
frequent and ferocious vitriol, this might be one of those places.
I ask on the party line because I bet I'm not the only one who's curious.
Sincerely,
Craig Bleakley
